Fundraising Friday

Fundraising Friday is a way to keep our friends and family up to date on the financial part of our adoption. Previously we used a gofundme account and were so incredibly blessed to receive $700! What a huge praise! Early this week I was told of a website that will allow donations without the added fees. We prayed about it, did a little research and have now signed up on that website to allow people easy access to help bring baby Page home!

We have hit the 13.5%  mark! Can you believe it? This whole process has opened our eyes to the generosity of our friends and family and we could not thank them enough. You have allowed us to fill out our application and have it approved in less than a week! We are now working on the pre-study documents. I will be doing a “paperwork” post next week to further explain what all goes in the pre-study documents.  Trust me they leave no rock unturned.  We are incredibly thankful for all of your prayers and the giving hearts that you have shown. Please know that we appreciate everything. There will be more fundraisers coming up that we will give you the details on soon. The first will be hosted by my mom. She is organizing a garage sale in about a month. If you have any unwanted items to give please let us know and we will figure out a way to pick it up.

I have one last story to share before I end this post. Last night Dakota and I got a package from some loving friends. We absolutely love this family, but what we got from their daughter Megan will forever be something I remember. Megan made an adorable card for “baby Page”. This card is so special to us, but the most precious thing is Megan’s heart. Megan is only six years old and went into her piggy bank and gave us the $30 she earned so that we can adopt our baby! How amazing is that little heart of hers?! Thank you Megan!

Thank you again for following our journey!

Application

Step 1-CHECK/Step 2-CHECK

Overjoyed is the word I would use to describe how Dakota and I feel today. Completing step 1 in this process was the easiest part of adoption. All we had to do was show up for a meeting the first Saturday of January. Easy. Done! When we announced that we were adopting, I had no idea that God would use you all to give us the motivation and fund raising to complete step 2 a few days later! We have officially submitted our formal application and are half way to our financial goal to complete step 3! Woohoo! God is so good! Thank you to every one that has prayed for us and given sweet words of encouragement.  I can’t begin to tell you how many messages we received on facebook, texts and phone calls to congratulate us. It was amazing.

Our formal application was pretty intense. The adoption agency wants to know your ENTIRE history…at least it feels that way. We had to provide ten references and information about everywhere we have lived. As many of you know, Dakota and I have moved five times in our three years of  marriage so remembering details about each location was tough. It took some time, but we were so proud to finish as quickly as we did. Monday afternoon I called the agency and told them, with excitement, that I was only waiting for one more reference and I would be able to turn in our application. Our caseworker was very enthusiastic and made me feel so great about being on top of things. After asking a few questions she mentioned that the formal application is probably the least amount of paperwork that we provide! Sigh. We have a long road ahead!

Welcome

Thank you for visiting our blog. We are thrilled to have you follow along our journey towards parenthood! This will be a long ride filled with ups and downs, but we are so ready to go! Adoption is something that has been in our heart and mind for years. Many of you know that adoption is not the first step in our journey, but we know it is exactly what we are meant to do right now. God used infertility to get our hearts ready for this process, but that doesn't mean it is our second choice. We have a strong desire to build our family. Whether our baby grows in my belly or grows in our hearts we will love them just the same. This is such an exciting time for Dakota and I! We hope you will share in the excitement too!

Please visit the other pages on the blog to see more information about our adoption process.

We will be posting fundraising ideas as well as keeping you up to date on how much we have saved and raised to bring home our baby!
